2015 Book Awards

It's book award season, that exciting time of year when several organizations announce winners for literature and illustrations for picture books.

Here is the press release from the Children's Cooperative Book Center in Madison with the winners for the Charlotte Zolotow Award. This year's winner Jenny Offill for Sparky!

One other award for the best book chosen by students in Wisconsin every year is called the Golden Archer Award.

Students Choosing Winning Literature Since 1974

Books are selected by a committee and then voted on by students.
One vote per student with final votes due by March 1st.
PRIMARY (Students in kindergarten – 3rd grade) NOMINEES ARE: 

1. The Dark   by Lemony Snicket (2013)
2. The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt (2013)
3. Oh, No!    by Candace Fleming (2012)
4. Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses by James Dean (2013)
5. That is Not a Good Idea!   by Mo Willems (2013)

And, the winner is.....The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt

This book was chosen by our elementary students as their favorite, and by students all over Wisconsin. Good choice students!
