3rd graders are taking a field trip to Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary today, so...
Today’s book is called Miss Malarkey’s Field Trip. Students are excited to be going on the bus for a field trip. Everybody made name tags, Miss Malarkey assigned each person a buddy and then they were off with a busload of students and parent chaperones. Follow the adventures on their field trip in this book from the Everybody section of the library. Miss Malarkey’s Field Trip.
Today’s books are written by Dan Gutman, who also celebrates
his birthday today. Jackie and Me and Mickey and Me are both Baseball
Card Adventures about a boy named Joe who has a special talent: with the help
of old baseball cards, he can travel through time.
Of course, these are fiction stories, but Jackie Robinson
and Mickey Mantle were real baseball heroes. Dan Gutman imagines what it would
have been like to meet these players and be at one of their historic baseball
games. Find all books by Dan Gutman in
the fiction section of the library.
Retired chemistry teacher, Mr. Bob Wanek came to school to talk about stars and constellations today. He gave his presentation in the amphitheater.
Today’s book is from the Spinning through Space series; called Constellations. Constellations are groups of stars that make patterns in the sky. Many of the names we use today come from the Ancient Greeks and Romans. See page 10 for a drawing of Andromeda and Pegasus constellations. Find Constellationsand many other books about stars and space in the non-fiction section of the library.
